These two volumes are intended as student textbooks. Volume One includes a brief history of chanoyu and covers the basic procedures for the guest, warigeiko (basic movements), and ryakubon (the simplest procedure for making tea, using a tray and a kettle that has a spout and handle).
Volume Two covers the basic procedures for making tea using a furo (brazier) and ro (open hearth built in the floor). Instructions for both koicha (thick tea) and usucha (thin tea) are included.
